Housing First is an approach assistance approach that prioritizes providing permanent housing to people experiencing homelessness, thus ending their homelessness and serving as a platform from which they can pursue personal goals and improve their quality of life. This approach is guided by the belief that people need basic necessities like food and a place to live before attending to anything less critical, such as getting a job, budgeting properly, or attending to substance use issues. Additionally, Housing First is based on the understanding that client choice is valuable in housing selection and supportive service participation, and that exercising that choice is likely to make a client more successful in remaining housed and improving their life.
Our Housing Programs
Mental Health Respite
We offer Mental Health Respite housing for individuals in need of a safe, stable place to address mental health challenges. This short-term program provides a supportive environment where clients can stabilize and access the resources they need to begin their journey toward long-term housing and recovery.
Transitional Housing
Our Transitional Housing Program provides a community-style living experience for individual adults. Residents share spaces to foster a sense of belonging and personal accountability. This self-pay program allows clients to pay reduced rent compared to market rates, promoting stability and independence as they work toward securing permanent housing.
Fostering a Sense of Community
At HomesUnited, we believe housing is more than just a roof over someone’s head—it’s about creating a place to belong. Our community-style housing fosters relationships among residents, creating a “small family” environment that promotes mutual support, accountability, and connection.
